
Welcome to Beginners! In September, we start out learning our daily routines.
We celebrate two special days: Johnny Appleseed's Birthday and Commodore Barry Day.
We welcome the new season of fall.

October brings a hayride to pick a pumpkin.
The firemen visit our school to teach us about fire prevention.
We celebrate Columbus Day along with Halloween!
In November, we study Native Americans.
This unit is culminated with a PowWow.
We celebrate Thanksgiving at school with a feast.
We also honor our veterans.

As winter settles in, we learn all about the December holidays.
These fun holidays include Hanukkah, Las Posadas, Christmas and Kwanzaa.
We welcome the New Year in January.
We also learn about the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We go to see a play during the winter.
In February, we celebrate Ground Hog Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday and the One-Hundredth Day of School!
We learn about dental health and keeping a healthy heart.
We also exchange Valentine cards with our friends.
March brings a new season.
We chart "Lion and Lamb" weather days.
We learn about good nutrition by tasting delicious foods from the food groups.

In April, we celebrate Easter and welcome the next year's Beginners during visitation week.
Before we know it, it's May Day.
Next comes Mother's Day.
During May, there is a parent orientation for the next year's Beginner parents.
We remember the men and women who have served in the armed forces on Memorial Day.
We salute our flag on Flag Day and honor our father's on Father's Day.
June also brings the end of our school year.
We wish our friends a happy, healthy and safe summer!
